About this site

Sa Foradada is the cape that pushes out into the sea below Son Marroig, on the Deià coast, with a natural hole running through its upper part. It is one of the postcards of the Serra de Tramuntana, and underwater it lives up to it just as well: the Sóller centres describe it as one of the finest dives on the whole range.

It lies about four miles from Port de Sóller, so it means a crossing. The dive starts at around 10 m and the route crosses from the south face of the cape to the north, threading between big fallen boulders that form corridors and shelters. That is where the life is: octopuses, moray eels, conger eels and groupers tucked into the cracks.

Beside the rock there is a Posidonia oceanica meadow in good condition, and that is the other reason to come: it completely changes the kind of life you see and gives you a second half of the dive quite unlike the first.

It is open north coast with a crossing in between, so it depends heavily on the weather window. Trips are concentrated between April and October.
