Cova des Vell Mari briefing
About this site
The Cova des Vell Marí lies along the Serra de Tramuntana cliffs between Sa Foradada and Port de Sóller, a shoreline with no land access where everything is done from the sea. The name comes from the vell marí, the monk seal that occupied these caves until it disappeared from the Balearics. The Caiac de Mar kayaking catalogue lists it as a sea cave of interest with relevance 4. Being on the north coast it is exposed to wind and northwesterly seas, which is what decides whether the day is good. The underwater profile remains to be confirmed: the source documents neither depth nor bottom.
