Cova de sa Figuera briefing

About this site

The Cova de sa Figuera opens at the foot of the north coast cliffs, in the Pollença area. The Caiac de Mar kayaking catalogue classes it as a sea cave of the highest significance and singles it out, together with the Cova dels Orguens in Marina Alta, as one of the two largest accessible caves in the western Mediterranean. It can only be reached by sea: the nearest landing point is 1.8 km away. Like any cavern it demands a torch, buoyancy control and not stirring up the bottom, and the northern ground swell must be assessed before approaching the entrance. Depth and bottom remain to be confirmed: the source is a kayaking catalogue and does not document the underwater profile.
